Thomas (Tom) Vincent O'Neill passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Grand River Hospital following a short battle with acute leukemia.

Tom will be greatly missed by his best friend and wife of 28 years, Silvia. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Marjorie (Lang) O'Neill. He is survived by his two brothers, Frank (Jane) O’Neill of Fort Erie and Brian (Kim) O’Neill of Arthur. Dear father of Mike of Guelph and Jason (Valerie) of Palmerston. Cherished step-father to Jennifer (Rob) Elsdon of St. Thomas and Richard (Kim) Elsdon of Kitchener. Loving grandfather to Hayleigh, Akaydiah, Riley, and Nicholas. Loved by many nieces and nephews.

Tom was an expert in commercial paint products, starting his career at Hammond Manufacturing, followed by many years at Sherwin Williams, and the past few years at Melitron.

Tom loved travelling, especially to the Caribbean, and enjoyed many recent trips to Jamaica, Ireland, Germany, Holland, and the Canadian Maritime and Western provinces. Tom loved hosting and barbequing for his family and friends and took pride to ensure the colour of his backyard pool was always clear turquoise blue, just like the Caribbean Sea. Tom was considered to be a “handy guy” and was often in his workshop or working on home improvement projects.

A committed Freemason, Tom was called from labour and laid down his working tools while the current Worshipful Master of Vienna Lodge No. 237, a member in good standing with the Holy Royal Arch Tillsonburg Chapter No. 255, and an affiliate member with Waverley Lodge 362.

Tom’s family would like to give a special thanks for the caring staff at the Grand River Hospital 6th floor and ICUs.

A celebration of life will be held for Tom on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive guests from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 9:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, a tribute to Tom in words and song will be held in the chapel adjacent to the visitation room.
