OWEN, Margaret Valerie (Hunter)

December 4, 1942 – March 17, 2021. It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Mother. She left us on her terms, peacefully and surrounded by her 4 daughters on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, in her 79th year. 
 
Devoted wife of 52 years to the late Eric Owen. Predeceased by her mother, Margaret Hunter.  Much loved mother of Dianna (Dave), Cindy, Sheila (Dan) and Rachael. Grandmother to Nichole, Jason, Michelle, Joshua, Andrew, and Jenna. Great Grandmother (GG) to Ethan, Brooklynn, Aydyn, Bronx, and Kai. Sadly missed by her loved brother and sister in law, Ken and Debbie Owen, and her lifelong friend of 70 years, Carolyn Cleghorn.
 
Mom was born in Nottingham England and came to Canada as a young girl. She met Eric in high school and together they raised their 4 daughters in Guelph. They enjoyed 40 years at the family cottage on Belwood Lake. After retirement they sold their cottage for a new adventure.  Their love of travel and especially their cruising were memories mom loved to share. She loved to travel, especially the trips with her girls. 
 
After dads passing, mom reinvented herself as a social butterfly. She loved her lunches, dinners and outings with her friends Janet Ceolin and Flo Anne Hattle. Her social life surpassed that of her daughters which has given us many laughs over the years. She loved her friends and community at Riverbend Park and enjoyed countless bbq’s and card games with the gang.
 
At mom’s request, cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be arranged when we can all safely hug one another again. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051
