Michael John Joseph Patrick
October 25, 1949 - June 19, 2022

Surrounded by his family, Mike Patrick (72) passed away peacefully and with dignity at Guelph General Hospital on Father’s Day. Mike was a devoted Husband, Dad, and Papa. He loved nothing more than to be with family - playing board games, watching movies, caring for animals, or sharing a meal. A devout Catholic throughout his life, Mike displayed daily the Gift of Wonder and Awe, never failing to see the world through a child's eyes. He was a remarkable role model. From a young age, Mike’s three sons were exposed to many of his interests, including a love for sports, the outdoors, and comic books. His keen faith, devotion to family, and unique sense of humour have all passed to his children, and have inspired them in their own lives. As a teacher at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, Mike continued to share his experiences and love for life with many students over his 25-year career. Mike had been fortunate enough to receive a double lung transplant in October, 2017 from a very generous family and donor, along with the help of the Toronto General Hospital. Blessed with this amazing gift of a new set of lungs, and with his admirable faith, strength, and determination, Mike enjoyed an extra four and a half years with us. He made the most of those years, and we are forever grateful to have had them. Left behind to cherish the wonderful memories are his devoted wife Beverley, whom Mike had adored for 50 years; his beloved sons Chris (Jessica), David (Leeanne), and Paul (Devon); as well as his precious grandchildren Maddie and Sam, Ava and Mason, and Olivia and Camden. Mike is also survived by his two cherished siblings, Lynn Emmons (Tom) and Paul Patrick (Angela), as well as many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation Sunday, June 26th from 1:00 to 4:00 at Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N. Guelph. Funeral will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 175 Emma St. Guelph, on Monday, June 27th at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 409 Paisley Rd. Guelph. In lieu of flowers and in respect to others who require lung transplants, donations can be made to the Toronto General Hospital at the University Health Network (UHN) and the link is available by visiting Mr. Patrick's obituary page at gilbertmacintyreandson.com.
