Patteson Bonnie

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Bonnie Patteson on August 30, 2022, at the age of 76 at St. Joseph’s Health Center in Guelph.

Devoted mother to her greatest pride and joy, her son, Michael.  Proud grandmother to her chosen grandson, Mitch Roadknight of Cambridge and GG to Alexis and Madison.

She will be greatly missed by her sisters Joan Elashcuk (Reg) of Calgary, Susan Hiller (Fred) of Elora and brother, Archie McEachnie (Bernie) of Oro-Medonte.  Dear sister in-law to Sharon Smith (Jim) of Puslinch, and Lorna Follick (Craig) of Ariss.  Loving Aunt to Jeff & Rose Hiller, Jamie & Eileen Hiller, Michael & Ruth McEachnie, Jenny McEachnie, Sarah McEachnie.  Cheerleader and Great Aunt to Kyle & Tina, Marissa & Tieson, Teagan, Benjamin, David and Melody.

Predeceased by Bruce Ruston (1997), who she always described as the one true love of her life and her nephew, Andrew McEachnie (2022).

Bonnie grew up in Holstein, Ontario until moving to Mt. Forest when her parents sold their home and she eventually settled in Guelph, where she raised Michael.  She was a long-time employee at the University of Guelph working in the Cooperative Education Department.  Bonnie spent years as a volunteer for Community Living in Guelph, always ensuring Michael could live his best life.  She believed in abilities, not disabilities.  Through Arc Industries, Bonnie built a lifelong friendship with Linda Fox, Jane Heipel and Rita Laderoute calling themselves the “Mom Squad”.  Bonnie was an avid crafter and Do It Yourself Pro!  You never knew what you would get for Christmas each year but knew it had made with love.

The family would like to thank the tremendous health care professionals at St Joseph’s Health Centre and the outstanding staff at Stone Lodge Retirement Home.  A special thank you to Lorna Follick for her unwavering friendship and devotion to Bonnie.

At Bonnie’s request, cremation has already taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com. Memorial contributions to Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Guelph Humane Society would be appreciated.
