It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ben Pawluk, on May 1st, 2022, in his 89th year at the Guelph General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Dearly beloved husband for almost 58 years to Helen (nee Haist) Pawluk. Loving father to Craig (Darlene) Pawluk and Andrea (Kevin) Mackenzie both of Guelph, Ontario. Cherished grandfather to Calum and Bronwen Mackenzie. Predeceased by his parents William and Lena (nee Barchyn) Pawluk; by his brothers John, Walter (the late Olga) and Peter; and by his sister Barbara all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He will be dearly missed by his sisters Evelyn (the late Jack) Morgoch, Victoria (the late Ed) Campbell, Marianne (the late Stanley) Buksak, Sandra (the late Conrad) Mlodzinski and by his brothers Alex (the late Lorraine) and Edward (Sylvia). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition, he will be sadly missed by his many friends and extended family.

Ben grew up on a small prairie farm within a loving Ukrainian family near Lockport, Manitoba. As a young man he enjoyed outdoor life engaging in hunting, trapping and fishing. He began working for Continental Can Company in 1953 during which he was eventually transferred to Toronto. In May, 1964, he married the love of his life, Helen. In 1967, they welcomed a son into the world followed by a daughter in 1970. Helen and Ben raised their family in Unionville, Ontario where they lived for 37 years, during which time they made many friends and enjoyed being a part of the community. In 1990, Ben retired and became involved in wood working, curling and winemaking. In 2007, Ben and Helen moved to Guelph to be closer to their family, which included their 2 new grandchildren.

A special thanks to Dr. Angela Lightle and nurse Kristen for their kindness and compassionate care. Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph. Family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 from 7p.m. to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, May 5th, 2022 at 10 a.m. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Lounge. A private burial will take place by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Guelph General Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Wildlife Federation or to a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
