The Payers have a certain way they like to have things done and we don't believe the passing of Fred was according to plan. Fred had so many more classic movies to watch, he was not finished his second reading of Les Mise, he hadn't seen all the opera he wanted to see. Fred had more walks to walk and cups of coffee to share with friends. He will be sorely missed.

Fred was the beloved son of Ovila and Haldane Payer (Bridge). Dear brother of Beverly Bateman (the late Jim), David Payer (Colleen), Louise Mottershall (Bill), Paul Payer (Rose) and he was predeceased by his oldest brother Pierre Payer and wife Trudy. Left to mourn are many nieces and nephews who loved "Uncle Freddie".

Fred worked for the City of Guelph Waterworks for 30 years. He leaves behind close colleagues, as well as the many unruly summer students that he so enjoyed training. Fred was a fixture at all the best downtown Guelph haunts, routinely grabbing coffee or a book while sharing eclectic music tastes with young and old. All of Fred's neighbours in The Ward will miss him dearly.

Respecting Fred wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of "Fred's Fabulous Life" will be held Sept 4, 2022 at 2pm at the Arboretum Auditorium, University of Guelph. Everyone welcome.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul or a charity of your choice.
