April 30, 1939 – September 9, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce Dave’s peaceful passing, surrounded by family on September 9 at Hospice Wellington in Guelph. He will be deeply missed by Bev, his loving wife and best friend of 44 years. Dave will also be lovingly remembered by his children Nancy (Ian), Kathy, Mike (Catherine), Randy; his grand-children Rebecca (Josh), Kristen, Amanda; his great grand-children Landon, Parker, Mackswell; his Sister Margaret and his constant companions Samantha and Sassy.

Dave lived a long and traveled life. A veteran of the US Navy, he spent many years abroad before returning home to Windsor. Shortly after, he not only found himself as the manager of a Pizza Factory in St. Thomas, he also found his new love Bev. Two years later they were married and faced many of life’s trials and tribulations together. From the pizzeria to the convenience store, the battle against cancer in many forms over 17 years and ultimately the dementia, his courage and determination with a healthy dose of humour thrown in has been an inspiration to all of us and everyone who knew him.

A very special thank you and the most eternal gratitude to all the staff and volunteers at Hospice Wellington for their kindness and caring support for Dave and our family. As per Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Friday September 15 at the Dublin Street Unity Church in Guelph from 1-3pm. A private interment will follow on Saturday at Union Cemetery. in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and Hospice Wellington are greatly appreciated by the family.
