November 3, 1928 to September 20, 2017

Predeceased by husband Herbert Pettipiere (d. 2000) and brother Gordon in childhood.

Survived by children Steven (Sue McCaffrey), Linda Petrie (Steve) and Keith (Anne Campbell), her grandchildren Ryan (Angela), Adam, Tyler (Melissa), Scott (Sarah) and Aaron; Jenny (Scott) and Lisa (Nathan); Stephanie (Keith), Mark (Erinn), Ashley (Ryan), and Matthew; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Gary (Mary), John (Carol), Raymond, and Nancy Low (Doug).

Born and raised in Toronto, June attended Forest Hill Collegiate, after which she moved to Guelph to attend MacDonald Institute, then affiliated with the University of Toronto. It was in Guelph that she met her husband-to-be, Herb, and they established their home in Guelph, where they had 49 happy years together. June had an active social life in Guelph and, after Herb retired, at their cottage on Six Mile Lake in Muskoka. She was a member of the College Women's Club, and loved their monthly excursions to the Royal Alex. She belonged to the Guelph Chapter of the Alumnae Club, was a member of the I.O.D.E., and enjoyed her Book Club for over 30 years. When she was 71 years old, she took up golf, enjoyed it immensely and became extremely proficient at the game. In 2010, she retired to a senior's residence in Kingston, to be near Linda and her family. With her sense of humour and fun, June made new friends readily in her Kingston home.

We love and admire her courageous spirit, and her ability and willingness to face difficult circumstances steadfastly and make decisions to address those circumstances. We hope to embody the best of her in our own lives. She was looking forward to being reunited with Herb, and we hope they are now together again.

Family and friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 1 - 3 p.m. A service to commemorate June's life will follow in the Hart Chapel at 3:00 p.m. If so desired, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Cards are available at the funeral home, 519-821-5077
