June 28, 1930 - February 21, 2018

With saddened hearts we announce the passing of a loving husband, wonderful father and proud grandfather, Brock Pilkey, on February 21st, 2018, at Hospice Wellington, following a courageous battle with cancer. Brock was in his 88th year, born in Hamilton on June 28th, 1930. He was the beloved husband of Mary (nee Goodbrand), the loving father of Sara, Beth (Frank Muia), and Peter. Proud papa of Brianna, Joseph and Olivia Muia. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents David and Elsa Pilkey (when he was 4 years old), by his brother Doug, and by sisters Ruth, Marion and Phyllis and their spouses. Brock and his three siblings were raised by their Uncle Charlie and Aunt Susie. Survived by his loving wife Mary, whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. He lives on through his three children and grandchildren, and will be deeply missed by all his relatives and friends. He is also survived by his sister Beatrice (Harry Lack).

Brock was a graduate of the Ivey School of Business at UWO, and ran a large beef operation for many years near Listowel. His final years of work were with his nephew at Scott Capitol Group in Mississauga. He was a Rotarian in Listowel, before moving to Guelph, and was a charter member of the Guelph-Wellington Rotary Club. He was a long-time member of the Guelph-Wellington Men's Club, Kortright Presbyterian Church and numerous bridge clubs. Brock enjoyed the family cottage at Lurgan Beach on Lake Huron for over 20 years, and in retirement, he and Mary travelled Canada and the US in their motorhome, before wintering in Florida and then Georgia.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to all the wonderful staff and volunteers at Hospice Wellington for their amazing and compassionate care.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Brock with his family during visitation at Gilbert and MacIntyre Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, at 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, on Monday February 26th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Brock's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, February 27th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the funeral home. A private family interment will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice Wellington, to the Salvation Army, or to the charity of one's choice, are available at the funeral home (519-821-5077).
