Mr. Vito Piovesan of Guelph passed away peacefully at
St Joseph’s Health Centre on June 12 2019, at the age of 79. He is
survived by his devoted wife of 54 years Maria Rosa (née Montin) and his
beloved children Fabio (Miranda), Luisa (Paul) and Lilli. He was the proud
Nonno of Megan, Michael, Matthew and Abigail. Brother to Dina (Menegotto)
and Avelino and the late Ugo and Aldo. Predeceased by his parents Luigi
and Leontina. Vito will be fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, as well as his nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and
Australia. Vito was born in Caselle, Italy in 1940, where his family owned
a woodworking factory. Vito immigrated to Guelph in 1962 and continued his
family’s tradition as a woodworker at General Millwork and later, at Engel
Canada. He enjoyed playing cards and bocce at the Bisobo Club on Fife Road
for many years. In retirement, he could often be found watching his
beloved Blue Jays and enjoying delicious meals with his family. The family
would like to thank all of the staff at St Joseph’s Health Centre for
their exceptional care, their kindness and their compassion. Visitation
will be held at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin
Street, North, Guelph on Sunday, June 16, 2019 from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m. A
vigil for Vito will be held at 3:30p.m. The funeral mass will be held at
St. Joseph’s Church, 409 Paisley Road, Guelph on Monday, June 17, 2019 at
10a.m. Entombment at Marymount Cemetery. A reception will be held
afterwards at the Italian Canadian Club, 135 Ferguson Street, Guelph. In
lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre would be
appreciated by the family.
