With heavy hearts, our family announces Jim’s passing on April 23 at St. Joesph’s Healthcare Centre in Guelph Ontario in his 87th year. The family profoundly grieves his loss but is very grateful for his peaceful passing and all the years of love and laughter. Jim lived his life with determination, gratitude, laughter and with a deep faith in God. He was very loyal and loving to his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife Eole of 65 years. He was the proud and loving father of Brian, Lori Drummond (Bertram), Steven (d. 1993), Karen (Gerard Greffe) and Colleen (Roland Proulx). He adored his grandchildren and they equally adored their “Poppy”: Marisa (Jeremy), Tony (Kamila), Lia (Corey), Quinn (Sarah), Colin (Melissa), Kyle (Carly), Nick (Monika), Alyssa (Taylor), Cole (Geena) and Cameron. Jim was a loving great grandfather to Kiana, Reid, Giuliana, Liam, Kaya and two new babies arriving in the next few months.
Jim was predeceased by his loving son Steven as well as his parents John and Helen, his brother Jake and his sisters Marylou (Richard d.) and Wilma. Jim is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings and sisters/brothers in law: Bill (Diane) Power, Gail (Ed d.) Turow, Shirley Power, Richard (Joan) Krieger, Art (Narelle) Krieger, George (Helen d.) Krieger, Pat Krieger, Maryanne Krieger, Jean (Ken d.) Mickus, Gino (Joyce d.) Innocente and Ann (Wayne) Marshall. Uncle Jim will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Jim’s devoted cousin Nancy Coulson for her love and compassion and her expert guidance, especially during Jim’s health struggles. The family also thanks the St. Joesph’s Palliative Care Team, especially Dr. C. Graham, for their compassion and guidance.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gilbert McIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel at 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, Ontario. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 409 Paisley Rd., Guelph. Reception to follow in the basement of St. Joseph Church. Cremation to follow. Burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oustic, Ontario at a later date In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Joesph’s Healthcare Centre or Wellington Hospice.
