RAESIDE, Miller Cooper

Posted

Raeside MM
Just 6 days short of his 93rd birthday, Miller Cooper Raeside passed at home in the morning of March 18, 2021.

Beloved husband of Maria (née Sjouke). Loving father of Helen (Wayne Steffler), Jennifer (Dave Keyes), and David (Laura Boyd). Treasured Opa to Lauren (Garret), Rachel (Eric), Joel, Avery, and Evan. Also mourning his passing are his sisters-in-law Nella and Toos, Nettie, brother-in-law Andries, his other-in-laws and his numerous nieces and nephews in Ontario, England, Australia, and Holland. Miller was predeceased by his brothers John and David, his step-grandson Shawn, his niece Ita and nephew Peter.

Born in Troon, Scotland, Miller served with the Royal Air Force out of Hamburg, Germany after WWII and after his discharge migrated to Ontario to fulfill a long-standing dream of becoming a farmer. A good friend (and future brother-in-law) Bert introduced him to Maria, to whom he was wed for 55 years. After many years in agriculture Miller joined the Guelph branch of the Correctional Service of Canada and worked there until his retirement. Known as a great conversationalist, Miller had a rare ability to easily connect with people and he will be lovingly remembered and missed by many.

A private visitation, service and interment will take place early next week. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051.

Memorial contributions to The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Miller C. Raeside in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
