Shannon passed away peacefully with her partner and her father by her
side at Guelph General Hospital on February 9, 2021. Our hearts are
broken.

Shannon was Vern and Joyce Rampton’s only daughter, born in Minneapolis,
Minnesota on December 2, 1964. In 1969 the family moved to Fairview Farm
near Carp, Ontario. Shannon grew up in Carp, graduating from high school
as an Ontario Scholar. She has an undergraduate degree from the
University of Guelph and then went on to complete her doctorate in
chiropractic medicine at Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis,
Missouri. She practiced first in Hilton Head, North Carolina, but
eventually made her way home to Carp. Shannon was a healer, friend and
confidant to her many patients, for whom she cared deeply.

During her formative years, her athletic talent blossomed. Starting on a
small speed skating track orchestrated by her ever-competitive mother,
she progressed to the big time to become a designate on Canada’s Speed
Skating Olympic Team for the Sarajevo Olympics in 1984. She also
excelled at soccer and was part of a team representing Canada in the
Master’s Olympics in Italy in 2013. Shannon was a big animal lover, and
shared her life with many wonderful dogs and horses over the years.

Shannon was predeceased by her mother Joyce, her grandparents Marguerite
and Lloyd Willis and Arthur and Naida Rampton. She will be dearly missed
by her partner Phil Di Nucci. Also left to mourn are her father Vern
Rampton and his wife Wendy. She will never be forgotten by her brothers
Joey and his wife Kim, and Kevin and his wife Shauna. She was “Aunty
Shanny” to her beloved nieces and nephews Madeline, Lucas, Sarah, Olivia
and Levi, Brady and his wife Megan, their children Owen, Blake and
Layla, and Bethany, Abby and Jake. Also left to miss Shannon are Phil’s
children, Jameson and Maia. Her many aunts, uncles and cousins, and a
large loving group of friends will also remember her beautiful spirit
and sense of humour.

A bright light in this very sad time is that many people will live a
better life as recipients of Shannon’s final gift of her organs. Please
consider signing your organ donor card/registering online.

There will be no funeral as per Shannon’s wishes. There will be a
celebration of Shannon’s life at a later date when current restrictions
are lifted. Arrangements are in the hands of Gilbert MacIntyre & Son
Funeral Home & Chapel in Guelph, Ontario. The family would be very
grateful if you would like to donate to the Guelph Humane Society or a
Humane Society in your area or Youth Mental Health Canada, in lieu of
flowers. Donation cards are available at the funeral home (519-821-5077).

Rest in peace, dear Shannon.
