It is great sadness that the family of Matthew David Rendell announces his passing Monday October 17, 2022, in his 90th year. Beloved husband to Judith (Coulson) of Guelph, Dear father of Laurie (Rendell) Boudreau (Gary), and Brad Rendell (Lisa), all of Guelph. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Ruth, Rose, Brent, Dennis, and Andre. Survived by his brother Lloyd (Etta), sister-in-law Mary, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, brother-in-law Terry (Pat) of Guelph. Dave is also missed by his many nieces and nephews, and friends from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and the Guelph area. Predeceased by his parents his John (Jack), and Emma (Shinners), his siblings Mae, Ruth, Lawrence, John, Martin, Elric, Cyril and Joseph. Dave was born in Little Bras D’or, Cape Breton Island, N. S. He joined his sister Ruth in Guelph when he was fourteen, to attend high school at GCVI. After graduation, he attended Ryerson College, and then went on to start his electrical apprenticeship in the late 50’s. Dave was a very active Union member of IBEW LU 804, serving in various capacities on the Board, including a term as Business Manager. He has enjoyed his retirement for the last twenty-five years. Friends will be received at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son-Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2022 at Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk St, Guelph followed by interment at Marymount Cemetery, 5400 Sideroad 6 S, Guelph. A reception will take place following the interment at the Dublin Chapel Fellowship Lounge. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated.
