SADURA, Steven J.

Posted

Sadura Steven MM
Steven slipped away peacefully at home on March 30th, 2021, with Kathy Walt, his wife and partner of over 40 years, by his side. He is survived by his wife, daughters Meaghan, Heather and Rachel and granddaughter Hanna, as well as his sisters Anna Sadura Healey of Kingston and Michele Perry of Brockville, their spouses and children.

Steve was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Guelph, where he worked and taught at the School of Environmental Sciences for over 35 years before retiring in 2018. An avid outdoorsman, he could often be found in the garden or at the family cottage where he enjoyed hiking, boating and fishing. He loved to travel with his wife and took annual golfing trips to visit family and escape the cold weather. He had many great friends with whom he would often get together for a coffee, a round of golf on Wednesdays or for a pint of Guinness on Fridays at the Fat Duck. He always made time to enjoy a cold popsicle with his granddaughter on the back deck – even in the middle of winter.  Steve was a lifelong teacher and not only imparted infinite wisdom to his daughters, nieces and nephews, but many others who crossed his path over the years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital and Freeport for his care over the past couple of months. A special thanks goes out to the Palliative Care team, led by Dr. Brodovsky and nurse Laura, who made it possible for Steve to spend his final days at home, as was his wish.

Cremation has already taken place and the family looks forward to celebrating his life later this year when larger gatherings are permitted.  Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
