Ivan Samson, our loving brother, husband, dad, grandpa, and ggpa, 85 years of age, passed away on April 9th, 2023, surrounded by loving family. Ivan was born on August 9, 1937, in Johannesburg, South Africa to Cyril and Rachel Samson.
Family was his greatest joy. Beloved by many near and far, Ivan is survived by his wife of 63 years, Toni, siblings Esme (predeceased by Alan), Len (Myrna), Sheryl (Yacov), and children Kevin (Margo), Debbie (Karen), Lindy (David), and Melanie (Eli). Proud grandpa to Aviva (Julie), Keira, Ethan, Ben, Daniel and Ethan K and great-grandpa to Eddy.
Having lived in South Africa, England, St. Catharines, and Guelph, Ivan and Toni brought people together, building caring and supportive communities wherever they were.
Ivan was an exemplary pediatrician loved by generations of patients and their families. His knowledgeable, caring, and holistic approach was inspirational and improved the lives of too many people to count.

The funeral will be on Tuesday, April 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the Beth Isaiah Sanctuary.

The family has asked that donations (monetary or in-kind) in honour of Ivan be directed to a charity that you feel reflects Ivan's dedication to the well-being of children.
Alternatively, donations would be welcome to Hospice Wellington, B'nai Israel Synagogue, or Beth Isaiah Synagogue. Shiva will be private.
