September 17, 1924 - March 25, 2022

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Fred Sanvido in his sleep on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the age of 97 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body dementia.

Will be greatly missed by his wife of over 70 years, Margaret; children Leslie, Cindy, Jody, daughter-in-law Cathy and grand-daughter Paige; sisters Ines Bolzon, Ida Longo, brother Reno, sister-in-law Joyce, his furry friend Buddie; along with all his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Irene and Fiorello, son Chris, brother Bruno, brothers-in-law Angelo, Frank and sister-in-law Carol.

Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Fred came to Canada at a young age. He then became a Canadian citizen and served in the Canadian Army during World War II. He had a long career in the transport industry, working at Consolidated Freightways, Hanson Transport in Kitchener and then moved to moved to Guelph in 1970 to become co-owner of Tremways Transport.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation at Gilbert McIntyre & Son Funeral Home at 1099 Gordon St, Guelph on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. Service in Hart Chapel on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11:00 am.

Family is requesting that masks must be worn for both visitation and the chapel service.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or St. Joseph's Health Care Center.

Sincere appreciation goes to St. Joseph's staff on Elmwood Neighbourhood for their loving and compassionate care to dad during his stay. Also to Dr. Paul Mendonca for all the years of exceptional care he provided.
