Peacefully passed at home on Friday, February 12th, 2021 in his 80th year. Gerry was the loving husband and best friend of Carol Schilter for 39 years up until her passing on June 1st, 2005. Gerry continued to spend the remainder of his life with his special friend, Beverley Quinn.
Beloved father to Shelly Peet (Dean) of Guelph. Cherished grandpa to Jessica and Jennifer (John and his son Nathaniel). Forever a guardian angel to his first great grandchild, anticipated for July 2021.  Dear brother to June Durnin (Ed) of Mississauga. Loving Uncle to Pamela (Jaime and their son Quinn) and Jody.
Born on September 23rd, 1941 in Kitchener, Ontario to Herman and Florence Schilter. Growing up in Elmira, he spent his time playing hockey, collecting birds’ eggs and gambling. After retiring, he spent his time taking numerous trips and cruises. His downtime was spent at the casino, tinkering with different projects, throwing parties and poker games in his retro basement, and looking after his Grand Marquis. Gerry will be dearly missed by members of The Bridge Club, The Mens’ Cribbage League, and friends he made at various cribbage tournaments.  
Friends and family may call the Gilchrist Chapel- McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home,       1 Delhi Street Guelph on Thursday February 18th, 2021 from 7:00 – 9 :00 p.m.  Please contact Gilchrist Chapel directly (519-824-0031) to arrange a viewing time, due to Covid-19 restrictions.  Face masks are required.  A private family service will be held Friday February 19th, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. John Borthwick officiating. Interment Memory Gardens.
