Schinkel Reuben MM

Passed away peacefully at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home in Fergus on January 29, 2022 at the age of 85.

Reuben, a long time resident of Guelph, is reunited with his beloved wife Reta who passed away September 2021. Through their partnership in life, they enriched the lives of many others and were loved and cherished by each other, family and friends.

Reuben is remembered with love by his three children Carolynne (Bob), Doug (Lori) and Mark (Geri) as well as by his six grandchildren: Rachel, Brett (Joanna), Corey (Melissa), Brenna-Lynn (Trent), Sarah (Michael) and Meghan (Mat). Reuben also had 10 great grandchildren. Reuben was born in Saskatchewan and moved at an early age to the St. Catherines/Vineland area with his parents Hilda and Charles, brothers Ken, Dick, David and Rick and sisters Myra and Judy.

Reuben and Reta both attended Parkview Church for many years following their move to Guelph in 1974. Church and faith in God were central to their lives. Reuben had many friends at the church and through his involvement in Guelph’s faith community (FGBMFI, Parkside Christian Village, etc.). He will be remembered for his leadership, love of music, contributions on many boards and committees, and for his ever-present sense of humour. He lived life well, worked hard and enjoyed his sports, travel, photography and lifelong learning.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the kind, thoughtful and skilled staff at Wellington Terrace LTC Home.

A “celebration of life” will occur at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

Memorial contributions to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Reuben A. Schinkel in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
