Mr. Bill Shortt passed away suddenly and peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on December 4, 2018 at the age of 85 years.
Bill was the loving husband of Mary Lou (née Jackson) for 64 wonderful years. Beloved father of Lynn (Paul) Wilmer and the late Debra Fischer (Randy). Cherished grandfather of Carrie (Sean) Spencer, Nick (Sophie) Wilmer, Katie (Shawn) Belisle, Mike (Sony) Wilmer and Sarah (David) Wilmer. Great-grandfather of Sutton, Cala, Siena, Francis, Grace, Avani, Joseph, Ryan and his soon to be great-grandchild. Predeceased by his brother Alvin. Survived by his sister-in-law Margie Shortt and his brother-in-law John Jackson.
Bill faithfully served his community for 33 years, and will be remembered by his beloved former colleagues of the Guelph Police Service.
Friends are invited to the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9p.m. A service to honour Bill’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10a.m. There will be a private family interment at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
