SKINNER, Joyce Lillian

Skinner Joyce MM

It is with a broken and heavy heart that we announce the passing of our family matriarch, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on April 30th, 2021.

She leaves behind John, her husband of almost 70 years, her children Janet (Steve) in the UK, Mick (Chris) and Tony (Judith), grandchildren Mark (Jacquelin), Lee, Rachel, and Louise (David). She was the loving great grandmother to Zachary, Lillian, Holly, Charlotte, Katy, Lewis, and Alexander.

Joyce and John immigrated to Canada in 1981. In England they enjoyed competitive amateur ballroom dancing, finishing 5th in the All England Amateur Championships. They continued to dance in Canada and won the Canadian Amateur Ballroom Dancing Championship in 1983.

Joyce also enjoyed playing golf and ten pin bowling until her progressive Parkinson’s prevented her participation.

Despite her Parkinson’s, her sense of humour never diminished, and her favourite activity was grabbing a Timmies and heading to Riverside Park. She enjoyed watching the ducks, walking through the Enabling Gardens, and watching the children playing in the play area.

In keeping with Joyce’s wishes, there is to be no funeral service, but when we can, the family will get together and celebrate her life and remember her vibrant personality. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051.

Memorial contributions to the Children’s Make a Wish Foundation would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Joyce L. Skinner in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
