In Loving Memory of Ann Smith (1930-2023)

Ann Smith, a beloved science and chemistry teacher at GCVI school for numerous years, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2023. Born in 1930, she leaves behind a legacy of passion, kindness, and boundless curiosity.

Ann's dedication to education extended beyond the classroom, as she played a significant role in nurturing the arboretum at the University of Guelph. Her influence touched the lives of countless students, fostering a love for science and the natural world.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Ann's adventurous spirit led her to explore various corners of the globe. Her travels enriched her understanding of diverse cultures and landscapes, leaving her with a wealth of stories that she shared with enthusiasm.

Ann's hands were not only skilled in teaching but also in the art of crafting. A lover of knitting and various crafts, she found joy in creating beautiful and meaningful pieces. Her creativity knew no bounds, reflecting her vibrant and nurturing personality.

A compassionate soul, Ann devoted much of her life to the welfare of animals. Her home was a haven for countless rescued animals, embodying her deep love and commitment to the well-being of all creatures great and small.

At the centre of her universe was her family. As an amazing wife to Donald Smith, she shared decades of love, laughter, and companionship. Ann was a pillar of strength for her daughter, Debbie Smith, and her role as a grandmother to Samantha Bower was truly special. The warmth of her love extended to all who crossed her path, earning her the affection and admiration of everyone she met.

Ann's departure leaves a void that will be keenly felt by those who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of family, friends, students, and the countless lives she touched.

Friends may call at the Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi St. Guelph, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 20th, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to PCRF (Palestinian Childrens Relief Fund) in Ann's honor.
