(July 9, 1931 - September 7, 2017) - Passed away with his family by his bedside at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph after a battle with cancer.  He will be dearly missed by his wife Hazel of 63 years. He was born 86 years ago in Owen Sound. He is predeceased by his parents Perry and Eileen Smith. His memories will be cherished by his son Brad (Julie) and daughter Carsa Campbell (Andy); grandchildren Meaghan, Jordan (Kait), Aaron (Ashley), Blake and Rachel. Great Grandchildren Madelynn, Maeve, Oliver and Lennon.  He will be kept in the hearts of his brother Bev (Pam), his sister Perileen (Eve), brother-in-law Carl (the late Christine), sister-in-law Grace and predeceased brother-in-law Gordon (Kay) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Carson had a 40 year career with Bell Canada: installation, cable repair and then the test centre in Guelph and area.  He was a long-time member of Westminster-St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. Much of his favourite pastime was spent at family cottages at Sauble Beach.

The family wishes to thank the compassionate care of Carson provided by the palliative care nurses at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.

Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Friday, September 15 from 7-9 p.m., as well as Saturday, September 16 11 a.m.-12 noon.  Memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 noon. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Westminster-St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church or St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation – Palliative Care would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Carson E. Smith in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
