It is with great sadness that the family of John W Smith announces his
passing at age 75 on February 8, 2020 after a long journey with
Alzheimer's. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Linda, brother
Jim, sister Donna and his son Chris, daughter-in-law Gillian and their
children Toby and Beatrice. John was predeceased by his younger son
Jeffery. Born in Guelph, John attended GCVI and University of Waterloo
where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He then embarked on a
fulfilling 32 year teaching career at John Diefenbaker Secondary School in
Hanover. John was actively involved in the Hanover curling club, tennis
club and served on the executive of the Hanover Barons hockey team. He
pursued interests in wood working, music and time with family and friends
at the cottage in Point Clark. John will always be remembered for his kind
heart, unassuming manner and warm, happy smile that brightened the lives of
those around him. The family would like to thank the caring staff at The
Elliott Community for their support.

A celebration of life will take place in the early spring. As expressions
of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington or The
Elliott Community would be appreciated by the family.
