James Edward Spence, known to all as Ted, peacefully passed on Friday, April 19th, 2024 in the Guelph General Hospital.  Ted was born in Brantford, Ontario on July 16th, 1937 but spent 44 years in Guelph, in the first and only home he owned with his wife, Miriam.

Ted will forever be remembered with a book, sitting in his recliner in a prime spot to look out the big front window.  He loved his grandchildren and great grandchild and spending time playing games and entertaining us all with his funny limericks that sometimes needed a warning label.

Ted loved to travel and, along with his wife Miriam, went to Hawaii, did an Alaskan Cruise, went on many other cruises to the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal, and surprised his grandchildren with a couple of trips to Disney World, where he acted like the 5th grandchild

Ted is survived by his wife of 53 years, Miriam, sons Tim (Tracey), Mike (Lisa), grandchildren Jadyn, Avery, Taryn, Kendall (Steven) and great grandchild Sloane.  Ted will also be missed by brother, Ken, sisters-in-law, Toosie, Isabel, and Patricia (Mike).  Predeceased by brothers, Bob and Butch and parents Thomas and Edna.  Also remembered by son, Danny and daughter Sherry.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his name to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

A tree will be planted in memory of James (Ted) E. Spence in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
