It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Joseph Robert St. Pierre, age 94, in Guelph, Ontario at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on April 5, 2023.

Joe, fondly referred to as Babe growing up, was the youngest of sixteen children of George and Regina St. Pierre and the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Regina, and eight sisters and seven brothers. Joe is also predeceased by his dearly beloved wife Connie, 2022 and his daughter Cheryl, 2016 (Wayne Redwood 2010). He is survived by four daughters, Kathy (Jim Johnstone), Karen (Bill Kozak), Elaine (Chris Robinson), and Barb (Patrick Morris). He will be forever remembered by his 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. St. Joseph’s High School in Windsor was where Joe and Connie met and fell in love. They married on May 7, 1949 and celebrated 72 years of life together. Joe earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Detroit Institute of Technology and began his career at the Ford Motor Company. In 1964 Joe moved his family to Guelph for a position at Allis Chalmers, then Rockwell International.

Retirement years were wonderful for Joe and Connie as they loved to travel the world and winter in Lakeland, Florida. Joe was a true craftsman and his favourite hobby was carpentry. The family all have and cherish pieces of his incredible workmanship in their homes. The yard and gardens around their home at 10 Linden Place gave Joe much pride and enjoyment.

Joe held many titles in his life, from President of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, President of Toastmaster’s Club and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Rosary Church, but his favourite role was being a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family.

Joe taught his children the importance of faith, the Church, and having the Lord in their lives. He was a living example of his own faith as he attended daily Mass for years at Holy Rosary Church.

Joe has left a legacy of love, faith and generosity to all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street North, visitation will be held on April 16, 2023 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Holy Rosary Church at 10:30am with committal to follow at the Marymount Cemetery mausoleum.

Memorial donations to the Queen of Peace Monastery or the MS Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
