STEFFLER, Bev web

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Bev Steffler on Wednesday, August 3rd at Hospice Wellington, after a brief struggle with cancer. Married to Carl for 54 years and loving mother to Carla (Scott Bradshaw) and Claudia Steffler, Bev was strong and optimistic until the end. Bev adored and spoiled her grandchildren Tessa and Jamie Bradshaw and Jacob, Simon and Jonas Comacchio. Sister to Madelynne Ellah, Brian Beale, Sharon Oke, Claudia Morris, Michael Beale and Donna Kurtz all of Stratford and sister-in-law to Ted Steffler, Elaine Ramsay and Sharon Steffler of Guelph. Beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Bev was born and raised in Stratford and came to Guelph to attend Nursing School. She graduated from St. Josephs in 1960 and worked for most of her career in the Emergency Department at St. Josephs Hospital, where she made life-long friendships. In her later years, Bev moved on to Occupational Nursing at Euclid. She was an active member of the St Joseph’s Church CWL, volunteered at Harmony House and was always there to lend a hand when anyone needed it. She’s been described as one of the most caring people that you’d ever meet – if you needed something, she’d give it to you or get if for you – that was Bev! The family would like to thank all the caring professionals at the Guelph General Hospital, Hamilton General Hospital, the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital and in particular her caring nurses Shirley and Pat, and the others at Hospice Wellington who kept Bev comfortable in her final days. We are forever grateful for the kindness and support of family members and friends, in particular, Diane, Cheryl and Anne. Bev will be missed by her friends and coworkers at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church on Monday, August 8th, 2016 at 11 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Wellington, St. Joseph’s Building Fund, or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. Cards available at the funeral home or condolences online at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.
