It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Steffler,
peacefully, at age 85, at Hospice Wellington in Guelph.

Joyce was born in Orangeville, Ontario, to parents George and Alice.
She was the youngest of six girls who lived in the Hockley Valley just
outside of Orangeville. She is the beloved sister of Anna and Gladys
and now deceased Madlene, Elva, and Eilene. Joyce met her husband
Jack while waitressing at the Grand Hotel and he quickly agreed to coach
her baseball team. They married in 1957.

Joyce had a wide range of interests and spent her retirement years
enjoying golf, playing euchre and travelling. In her youth, she taught
herself how to play the piano and guitar and would use her musical
talents to entertain family and friends in her home and at family
gatherings.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Jack, their children Kim,
Carol, Jackie and Mark, and their spouses. Joyce was also a beloved
grandmother to Jacob, Logan, Sean and Matthew.

All of us who knew and loved Joyce (Mom) so well, her husband,
children, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends will remember
her as a bright light who was kind with a compassionate heart and having
a great sense of humour with a "tell it like it is" directness. She was
a quick study and possessed a fierce loyalty to her children and her
grandchildren. She will always be remembered as someone who could
create joy through her music and laughter, initiating fun and play at
family picnics and "mother daughter" weekends encouraging others to join
in shedding any inhibitions. In the words of her husband Jack, after 63
years of marriage, "She was a special lady."

The Steffler family would like to invite friends and relatives to a
drive by visitation at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart
Chapel, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph, on Monday, January 11, 2021, between
10:00 am and 12:00pm. We ask that all guests wear a mask and do not exit
their vehicles. Staff will guide the vehicles to a single file in order
to give condolences to the family.

Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the funeral
service and interment will be private. We thank you for your
understanding and encourage you to provide your condolences to the
family through her memorial page. The Steffler family will be using any
condolences and photos shared to create a scrap book album for Joyce's
husband Jack. All are welcome to stream the funeral service on the
internet via ZOOM on January 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Link found on
funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or St. Vincent De Paul would be
appreciate by the family.
