Of Guelph, passed away at Guelph General Hospital on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the age of 80.  

Carolyn was predeceased by her first husband, John DeJong (Aug 1969).  Carolyn was predeceased by her second husband, George Strachan (Jan 2010).  She was also predeceased by her parents Walter Pruner (April 2003) and Lydia Pruner (May 2007), as well as her sister, Linda Connelly (May 2004).  She is survived by her brother, Gary Pruner (Joan), her brother, John Pruner, her sister, Connie Desjardins (Reg) and her sister, Deborah Jodoin.  Loving mother of Roni Grobe (Perry), Vanya Ryan (Ralph), Eric Waters (Kelly) and Vincent Waters (Rodelyn).  Loving grandmother of Christopher Ryan (Megan), Catherine Ryan (James), Danielle Couto (Jonathan), Sara Waters, Jordan Waters (Malika), Lyndle Grobe, Raquel Grobe, Trisha Waters and Tristan Waters.  Loving great-grandmother of Arya, Ana, Ava, and Aydin Couto as well as Levi Waters.

Carolyn was born in Westmount Quebec in 1941.  She grew up in and around Cornwall Ontario, along with her five siblings.  She married “the love of her life”, John DeJong when she was 19 and started a family at the age of 20.  Carolyn will be remembered for her love of visual art, her keen interest in painting as well as her passion for her large collection of dolls and paper dolls, which were shared and enjoyed by her children and grandchildren.

Her faith allowed Carolyn to move on to the next chapter, free of pain and limitations.  She will be missed but not forgotten.

Cremation has taken place.  A small, private family memorial will take place.  Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital.

 

A tree will be planted in memory of Carolyn A. Strachan in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
