Passed away peacefully and courageously on March 2, 2023 in Guelph surrounded by her children. Born in Walkerton, Ontario on April 29, 1928. Loving mother of Sheryl Teed Callum (John Callum) of Toronto and Brian (Ania) of Oakville. Devoted grandmother to Jason Strader of Toronto.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Nelson John Joseph Strader, and her brothers Donald and David Monk. Jean was the eldest child of the late Cecil and Otto Monk of Walkerton, Ontario.

Her love and care for her grandson and her deep commitment to her children were unmatched. She is remembered fondly by her dear friend in later life, Joe Dorning and her many nieces and nephews.

Jean spent her early years in Walkerton and later moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she pursued her passion for nursing. As a Registered Nurse (RN), she practiced nursing for many years in Toronto, leaving a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues. Jean retired from the nursing profession to raise her family and assist her husband in managing his business, Wexford Heights Pharmacy in Toronto.

Jean was an accomplished pianist and porcelain painter and a gourmet cook. She was also an avid bridge player, always ready to join in a game with friends and family.

Jean will be remembered for her caring and generous nature. Her love for her family and friends was unwavering and she will be deeply missed. Jean leaves us with a wealth of rich memories of a life well lived.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to Dr. Angela Lightle, her Nurse Practitioner Donna Gill, her nurse, Darcy and her dear friends, Joanne, Dot, Jim and Joy.
