97, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at The Elliott Community Long Term Care, Guelph, Ontario. Born in Lower Selma, Nova Scotia, June 1, 1924. Predeceased by his loving wife Gladys (2019). He was the son of the late Alexander Sutherland and Edith (Hamilton) Neil.
Survived by his children Wayne Sutherland (Anna), Toronto, Marlene Irvine (Ken), Elmira, and daughter-in-law Edwina Sutherland, Ottawa. Predeceased by his son Rick (2014). Also survived by his grandchildren, Kevin (Julie), Stuart (Shelley), and Brent (Kate) Irvine, Susan (Stephen) and John Sutherland, great-grandchildren Axel (Ivana), Rachel, Owen and Eli Irvine and great-great-granddaughter Emilia Irvine, his sister Beatrice Fairweather, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings Gerald and Donald Sutherland, Edla Owen and Doris MacPhee.

Arrangements have been entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, Guelph. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A family gathering for interment of ashes will take place in the Spring at Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus. Donations in his memory may be made to The Elliott Community, Guelph, Ontario.
A tree will be planted in memory of Marven M. Sutherland in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
