SYMONS, Irene Margaret (nee Scott)

Irene Margaret (Scott) Symons was born 21 September 1940 in Toronto Ontario, and lived in Petherton and Mount Forest before settling in Guelph 35 years ago. She died peacefully on 28 February 2023 at Hospice Wellington. Predeceased by her husband Clifford Symons (1980), her sister Dianne Izzard (2022), as well as her eldest daughter Karen (2016) and husband George Dudich (1986). Beloved Mother of Donna Bilton and husband Jeff of Mount Forest, Michael Symons and wife Heman of Burnaby BC, Clifford Symons and wife Dianne of Cambridge. Devoted Grandmother of Catherine Rawn and husband Russell Ball, Carolyn Rawn Johnston; Ashley Gerger and husband Kevin, Daniel Symons and fiancée Kayla Farrell, Kyle Symons; as well as Nikki Saunders and husband Melvin, Gordon Reid and wife Heather. Proud Great-Grandmother of Booker and Aniston Symons; as well as Desmond and Kathleen Saunders, Nick, Harmony, Lantis, and David Reid. She will be deeply missed by all of her family, by her dear friends especially Wendy Kratzer, and by many others who thought of her as a grandmother and support. Many in the community will remember her as a loving and generous volunteer at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, but especially for her work in schools. She spent many joyful years ministering to children (and sometimes teachers) at Sacred Heart School, St. Francis of Assisi School, and St. Patrick's School. Please join us for visitation at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel,252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church 409 Paisley Rd., Guelph on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 10 a.m. Interment to immediately follow the Funeral Mass, in Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.
