TIMPANO, Carmela 'Lina'

Posted

Timpano

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom only 25 days after our dad passed away. We find some comfort in knowing that they are together once again. Carmela (Lina) (nee Figliuzzi) was the loving wife to Carmelo for 67 years. She was loved dearly by her children Vince (Bernadette), Joe (Nora), and Fran (Paul) Hinchliffe. Lina was the loving nonna to her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Noah (Danielle), Samantha, James (Chelsie), Sara, Catherine, Victoria, Lauren, Adam, Hannah, and Jamie. Lina was the eldest sister to Raffaela (Emilio), late Franco (Nicoletta), and Bruno (Diane). She is also pre-deceased by Francesco, Salvatore, and Nazzareno. She also leaves behind 10 in-laws from her marriage to Carmelo. Lina was born in Serra San Bruno, Calabria July 20, 1933 to Giuseppe and Maria Fiorina Figliuzzi. Lina followed her love, Carmelo, to Canada in 1954 and were married immediately in Montreal. They began their life together in Montreal with the birth of their 2 sons, Vincenzo and Giuseppe. In 1966, Lina and family moved to Guelph where their daughter Francesca was born.
Lina was an accomplished seamstress. She was the happiest when she was in her vegetable and flower gardens. Cooking for her family gave Lina great pleasure. Her cooking was appreciated by everyone seated around her large table. She has inspired her family traditions to the next 2 generations. Lina will be remembered for her generousity and honesty, and acceptance. A special thank you to the staff of Lapointe-Fisher Nursing Home who cared for her for the past 22 months. Donations will accepted to Lapointe-Fisher Nursing Home by cash or cheque at the Funeral Home.
