Born August 31, 1924 (aged 97), from Guelph, and lately of Southampton, passed away in his sleep, of natural causes, Friday, October 22, 2021. Doug was the last surviving member (of 11 siblings) born to Agnes and John Tocher of Guelph. Doug was married to Vera Embro (predeceased March 3, 2020) on July 1, 1949, at Church of Our Lady, Guelph.
During their 73 years of marriage, they grew a lovely family of their own, namely Gail Chambers (Jody, Jeff and Jillian - great grandkids Anthony & Roman); Sharon Tocher (John Park); Diane Tocher; Nancy Robinson (Bev: Geordie, Jamie and Connor); Suzi McCarthy (Brandi and Breton); Doug (Elke: Forrest and Ethan); David (Lachlan and Aylene); and Mark. We all will miss our Dad (Gramps) profoundly.
Doug was employed with Orenda Engines in Malton, Ontario during the exciting development of the AVRO Arrow Jet Fighter in the 1950's. He retired from Orenda January 31, 1985, and shortly thereafter moved to live permanently in Southampton where most of his immediate family still reside. Doug was also an RAF Veteran of WWII.
