It is with great sorrow that the family of Helen Toms announces the passing of their beloved Wife, Mom, Nanny, Great Nanny, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend to many.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Rachel Edwards, her daughter Kathryn and her grandson Ryan (Dawes). She is survived by her husband Jim Toms, sister June (Franklin) and brother Bill Edwards. She was the loving Mom to Kelly Vaillencourt (Greg), Bill (Deborah), Dave (Linda) and Steve (Jacqueline) Toms. Proud Nanny to Stacey Daub (Darren), Justin, Paul, Nathan, Aaron, Rachel, Jayme (Dan), Alana and Jackson Toms and Great Nanny to Ruth and Henry Miller.
Mom passed away in the loving care of Forest Heights Long Term Care facility and the family wants to thank the kind staff that took care of her with a special thank you to Nurse Dushanka as well as to all the staff in the Geiger unit.
Mom was born and raised in Guelph and worked for 33 years at Imperial Tobacco where she made many friends, probably too many to list but we remember Brenda Frankow, Jean Thachuk, Mary Lou Legault, Doris Dupont, Joyce Bovaird, Rose Gardiner, Fran Ball and Tom and Kathy Pettit, we apologize if we missed anyone or misspelled any names.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of Mom’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
A tree will be planted in memory of Helen J. Toms in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
