John Trento 1933-2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Trento on Thursday, November 23rd at the age of 90.
John was a loving Husband for 36 years to Shirley Trento (nee Morrison).
Predeceased by wife Virginia (nee Pagnan) (1978), and sons Mark Trento (2021) and Tim Morrison (1991). Proud Father to Patricia Burgess (Kevin), and Step-father to Dale Morrison (Charmaine), and Dean Morrison (Amanda).
Cherished Nonno to Courtney Trento (and son Caphrey), Aaron Burgess (Sally Lynn), Rowan Burgess (Emmalyne), Chaunda Morrison-Pawson (Andrew), and Cole Morrison.
John will be fondly remembered by his sisters Amelia Stradiotto and Rita Zolnai, in-laws Mario Pagnan (Marie), Cecilia Visentin (Gino), Jim Fuller (Pat), and Georgette Fuller as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brothers Savino, Virginio, and Carlo.
John was born in Guelph on July 12, 1933 to Ernesto and Erminia Trento, and was the youngest of 6 children. At 19 he married Virginia, and together they raised Patricia and Mark. He enjoyed watching all of Mark’s hockey games, and taking the family camping. Sadly, in 1978 Virginia passed away. John later met Shirley at a dance and they would go on to marry in 1987. For work, John devoted 44 years to Fiberglass (Owen’s Corning) but was happy to retire and spend more time on his hobbies. John and Shirley enjoyed square dancing and traveling to warmer climates, and made many friends and happy memories along the way. They kept up their dancing even into their 80’s! He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, making wine, and watching old western movies.
He had a bright smile and a kind heart, and could often be heard singing a song or sharing a funny story or one-liner. His presence will be missed dearly.

A visitation will be held at Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi St. Guelph on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 am. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel followed by lunch downstairs. Internment following lunch to be held at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph. Cremation has already taken place.
