Fiorino passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Saturday, August 27, 2022, in his 92nd year, with his family by his side. Fiorino was a proud Italian immigrant who started a new life as a proud Canadian citizen in 1959 with his newlywed wife Natalina (Sorbara). A hard worker of 35 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He provided opportunity for his children Cathy, Franca (Peter Horsky), and Joe (Julie), to have a great life in this new country. Papa, our hero, was proud of his grandchildren Erica, Evan, Nicholas, Alex, Holly, and Joseph.
A role model for treating people with respect and always found ways to make you laugh with his infectious smile and passion for telling stories. He enjoyed his daily walks throughout the city he loved. He enjoyed interacting with all the bus drivers downtown. They all knew him by name since he never drove. He enjoyed wine making and working in the garden. A special thank you to his special neighbor, Don Nichol, to Hospice, the Nurses of Bayshore, and Dr. Robinson. He is survived by his sister Natalina, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Caterina, and his brothers, Giuseppe and Guglielmo.
The family will receive friends at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Holy Rosary Church at 10:30 a.m. Entombment at Marymount Cemetery.
