It is with broken hearts and gratitude for a life long lived that we announce the passing of Ankie Verhart, in her 91st year at the Guelph General Hospital on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was the much loved and devoted wife of John for over 62 years. Loving mother of Marita and her husband Fred and cherished Oma of April, Tim and Abby. Also remembered by Anthony, Cindy, Jeremiah, Jesse, Julia, Shawn, Brandon, Justin and many friends and family in both the Netherlands and Canada.
Mom started her life in Canada with Dad in 1960. As a new immigrant she quickly learned to speak English and adapted to life in her new country. Mom and Dad were blessed to share more than thirty years of retirement together after Dad retired from teaching. Her devotion to her faith carried her through many of life's challenges and her love will carry on in our hearts forever.
The family of Ankie would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Rosemary Danielli for her compassionate care and kindness over the last 40 years and especially during the past year as Mom's health declined.
Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph. John invites family and friends to a visitation at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma Street, Guelph on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 9:30am to 10:30am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am with Father Vernon Boyd officiating. Private interment to follow.
