Passed away peacefully at The Elliott Community in his 97th year, on Friday, May 5, 2023. Agostino was born on November 27th,1926 in the town of Corbolone in Venice, Italy. His fondest memories of childhood surround the river by his hometown, fishing and foraging with his father. Agostino is now with his beloved wife Anna Maria Vidotto (nee Campagnol). Anna and Agostino met and fell in love as young children. His steadfast love and care remained for her throughout their marriage and long after her passing.

He was the dear father of Sergio and his wife Connie of Port Elgin, Doriana and her husband Charles (Chuck) of Guelph and Maurice (Moe) and his wife Moira of Guelph. Agostino was the cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren: Christine, Robert, Carla (John), Julia, Dan (Pelin), Rebecca, and Clara (Ryan) and the proud great grandfather of Anna and Alice. Agostino had a long-lasting connection to his cousins Edy (Ilio) and Renzo (Stephania) still in Italy. He is also survived by his sister Anna and was predeceased by his parents Agostino and Pasqualina and sister Anacleta. He is also predeceased by his cousin Gildo, with whom he shared a close and lifelong friendship. He deeply appreciated his connection to the Italian community in Guelph. He will be greatly missed by all.

After studying to be a draftsman in Venice as a young man, Agostino made the very difficult decision to immigrate to Canada in 1952. He later regarded this to be the best thing he ever did. He worked diligently for Ontario Hydro for 30 years working up the ranks to the role of Structural Superintendent. Agostino came from a long line of furniture makers and honed this craft later in life becoming an exceptionally masterful carpenter. He enjoyed making many of the pieces of furniture in his own and his families homes.

A long-time subscriber to the National Geographic magazine, Agostino was an avid reader and was always excited by learning about history, nature and the different ways the world worked. Agostino loved to garden and grow his own food. He was an expert seed saver and plant propagator with a lifetime of knowledge tending to a home garden. He was especially proud of his different variety of roses.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Elliott Community where he spent the last years of his life. Agostino and his family are forever grateful for the dignity and care provided by the many individuals who made his stay there as comfortable as possible.
