Vinovich John MM

May 9, 1940 – January, 29, 2022

We are saddened to announce the death of John Vinovich in his 81st year. He will be much missed by his loving wife, Janet, by his children, Michael and Jacqueline, and by his brother, Andrew Vujnovich. He will be dearly missed by grandchildren, Brooke, Susan and Olivia as well as by sister-in-law, Joanne and nephew Paul. John was predeceased by wife Patricia Maillet Vinovich (1936-2008). John faced a grim diagnosis with equanimity, strength, and the constant support of Janet, but he finally succumbed, passing away peacefully in his sleep.

Born in Duparquet, Quebec to Ned and Mary Vujnovic, John started working for the Royal Bank of Canada at age 16 and never left, staying with them for the rest of his nearly 40-year career. Ambitious, John rose from humble bank teller to a senior administrative position only to jettison that career trajectory to embrace a role in commercial retail banking, a role that let him do what he loved: serving people. One of John's hobbies was making friends. He wanted to know about you. John was also a dedicated oenophile, a love he took to the next level in making his own wines with brother, Andrew. The Malbecs were a clear victory, though he couldn't hide his disappointment with the Sauvignons.

Generous, loyal, demanding, and loving, John's towering presence and example will be forever missed.

Many thanks to the hard working and shamefully under-resourced caregivers at Caressant Care home in Fergus, Ontario.

A private service will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1:30 pm. Guests may attend remotely via Zoom by clicking the link in John’s notice on the funeral home website: www.wallcustance.com.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (https://alzheimer.ca/en) would be appreciated by the family.
