Died peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in his 93rd year.

Born in Leiden, Netherlands on August 27, 1931. He and his wife, Christiana immigrated to Canada in June 1954. Evert was employed at General Electric/ABB for over 40 years. He Volunteered with The Guelph Minor Hockey Assn., Knights of Columbus, The St. Vincent de Paul Society and was an usher at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate for many years. He loved carpentry and woodworking. 

Evert is predeceased by his cherished wife Christiana of 69 years. He will be sadly missed by his sons Gerry and his wife Andrea and Jim and his wife Tracey. He was the loving grandfather of five: Emily Vlasveld, Nick Vlasveld (Laura Verhaeghe), Laura Longhurst (Eric), Michael Vlasveld (Emily) and Peter Vlasveld (Amy). He was also great-grandfather of five: Connor, Megan, Molly, Paisley and Owen.

Many thanks to the staff at Chartwell Wellington Park, St. Joseph’s Long Term Care, Guelph General Hospital for their care over the last year. Special thanks to Hospice Wellington for their outstanding care and attention during his last hours, especially Susan and Claire.

Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph where the family will receive their friends on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica of Our Lady 28 Norfolk St., Guelph on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph. All are invited to attend a luncheon at Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral home after the burial.
