von Wiedner Gudrun MM

Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at Wellington Terrace, Fergus on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the age of 90.

She will be missed by her husband Hans von Wiedner and family. Loving mother of Achim von Wiedner (Ann), Ralph von Wiedner (Vanya) and predeceased by daughter Monique von Wiedner (Ian Bussey). Loved grandmother of Jordan Cobourne, Christopher Ryan and Catherine Ryan. Gudrun will be missed by her surviving brother Bartold and twin sister Armgard, both residing in Germany, as well as many nieces and nephews from all over.

Gudrun and Hans met in Germany after the Second World War and immigrated separately to Canada when they were young. They married 65 years ago in Kitchener, Ontario. They began modestly as a butler and maid couple for a few years, worked hard, saved and were able to purchase land in Ariss, Ontario, where Gudrun took care of her three children and drove a school bus part time.

Soon after moving to Ariss, Gudrun and Hans joined the Lutheran church in Guelph, where Gudrun became a loyal member and volunteer. Gudrun enjoyed contributing her time, her experience, her baking and her garden flowers. Gudrun was also a dedicated volunteer for Hospice Wellington for many years and enjoyed caring for those requiring her Therapeutic Touch skills.

Gudrun had a passion for gardening and baking, especially her Christmas cookies, pies and fruit flans, which were always eagerly enjoyed by all. She cherished spending time with her children and her grandchildren.

Her faith allowed her to move peacefully on to the next chapter, free of pain and limitations. She will be missed but not forgotten.

Special thanks to all the dedicated caretakers at the Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home.

Donations may be made to Hospice Wellington in memory of Gudrun von Wiedner.

A private family service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051.

A tree will be planted in memory of Gudrun von Wiedner in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
