Resident of Guelph, Ontario formerly Amsterdam Netherlands and Preston Ontario passed away December 1, 2021 in his home in Guelph in his 88th year.
Leo was born in Amsterdam Netherlands and emigrated to Canada in 1955. He married Jean in 1961 and together raised three children Gary, David and Diane. Jean sadly passed away in 1981. Leo reconnected with an old friend Nancy and the two were married in 1989 and had 30 happy years together. Leo retired after 40 years with GE/ABB in Guelph and enjoyed golfing, watching his beloved Toronto Blue Jays and winning at online poker for play money.
Leo will be missed by his children Gary Westerveld (Ruth), David Westerveld and Diane Lemke (Ray) and his grandchildren Amanda, Sarah, Chloe, Aislinn, Jennifer, Ella, and Jackson. Survived by his brother Survived by his brother Harry Westerveld (Stella), brother-in-law Klaas Heslinga and sister-in-law Pat Westerveld. Predeceased by his first wife Jean, his second wife Nancy, his brothers Joop, Jan and Abe, his sisters Marie and Alice, and his parents Abraham and Rinske.
Visitation will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 6-8 pm and Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers donations will be appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
