Resident of Guelph, Ontario, formerly of Motherwell, Scotland and Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on June 13, 2019 at Hospice Wellington, in Guelph, Ontario in her 90th year.

Nancy was born and raised in Motherwell, Scotland and emigrated to Canada with her first husband, John Grant, and her two eldest sons.  She raised a family in Winnipeg and Guelph.  In 1976, she lost John and raised three sons on her own.  Nancy worked many years at The Elliott in Guelph and enjoyed helping people.  She reconnected with her old friend, Leo Westerveld. In 1989 they were married and had 30 happy years together.  Nancy enjoyed knitting, crafts and swimming.  She was dearly loved by both of her families.

Nancy will be missed by her beloved husband Leo Westerveld, her son Iain Grant (Pam), her sister June White (Ernie), her stepchildren Gary Westerveld (Ruth), David Westerveld, and Diane Lemke (Ray), her grandchildren Ella, Jackson, Amanda, Sarah, Chloe, Aislinn and Jennifer, and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her first husband John, her sons Stuart Grant and Finlay Grant, her brother Harry Findlay (Shirley) and her parents Harry and Agnes Findlay.

Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 10-11 am.  A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will follow at 11 am. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre. 

In lieu of flowers, donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Nancy Westerveld in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm.
