It is with deep sadness we share the passing of Georgina Mae Williams, 83, of Guelph, Ontario. She passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family. Georgina, affectionately known as “Jo” to most family and friends; was born on March 16, 1941 in Walkerton, Ontario and grew up on a farm in Lucknow where she began her lifelong love affair with animals of all kinds.

Jo was a loving wife, mother and grandma and was a good friend to many. She married the love of her life on August 16, 1974. Peter and Jo enjoyed many years together, travelling with their girls while Peter was in the army. After Dad retired from the Canadian Army, they decided to settle in Guelph to continue to raise their family. Jo retired from the Guelph General Hospital after many years of service. She always spoke fondly of her job and the many friends she made there.

Jo wore many hats in her lifetime and had so many talents. She was an amazing cook, a skilled knitter/crocheter, and a very hard worker inside the house and out. She loved music-some of her favourites were Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Kenny Rogers and Johnny Reid. She loved to garden. She loved the many years she and Dad spent at the trailer, usually hosting our whole family. The role she was most proud of though, was that of Mom and Grandma-she took any opportunity to brag about her girls and her grandkids. She was a wonderful, cherished Mom who will be profoundly missed.

Predeceased by her devoted husband Peter; parents William and Susan Griffin; brother Len Griffin, sister Eileen (Gerry) Wagner; sisters and brothers-in-law Marjorie (Jack), Len (Mary), Richard and Bernadette (Bun) Williams, Mavis(Bernard) Madden, Eddie (Gen), and her loving grandson Ryan Doig.

Leaving to mourn and miss her; daughters Kelli, Krista (Dave) and Vicki (Steve); her cherished grandchildren Liam, Olivia, Jasmine and Griffin; sisters and brothers-in-law Millie (Danny) Chafe; Max (Philomena) Williams; Genevieve Williams; special cousin Gloria Neufeld; large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, and her many friends and extended family; near, far and especially loved ones in Newfoundland.

Cremation has taken place at her request. A time to celebrate the life and times of Georgina “Jo” Williams will be held at the Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Starting with visitation between 9:30 to 11:00am, followed by service in the chapel with Canon David Bowyer to officiate. Then those who wish can attend the ceremony at the niche and back for food and refreshments in the hall. Please join us at Memory Gardens, 2723 Victoria St. N, Breslau ON N0B 1M0.

Our family asks that in lieu of flowers, you hug your loved ones a little tighter and perform an act of kindness, to share Mom’s kind and generous spirit with others. If you choose, feel free to wear bright colours to reflect the joy she has brought us all.

Sincere thanks and appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Guelph General Hospital for their care and compassion. Finally, thank you to all the PSW’s Mom had over the years.

We sincerely thank and appreciate you all.
