It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Norma Grace Wraight (McLean) on April 8, 2024, at Guelph General Hospital, Guelph Ontario.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband Charles Matthew, sister Jean, brother Richard, and son Shelden, Norma is survived by her brother, Bob (Kathy), her sister-in-law Brenda, her loving daughters Cheryle, Dianne (Kirby), Dawn (Fred), and loving son Andrew.  Norma is the cherished grandmother of Shannon, Jordan (Michelle), Annie, Stephanie (Matt), Jackson, and Lara, and the proud Great Grandmother of Riley & Luna.  Norma will also be greatly missed by all her nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.  She has blessed us all with her warm heart and kind soul.

Born in Englehart, Ontario, May 19, 1932, Norma grew up on a farm, the oldest of Alice & Gordon McLean’s 4 children.  She learned the value of hard work, but also the value of kindness, family, and unconditional love.  She shared her love openly, usually through her famous home-made bread, a blueberry pie, a great home cooked meal, or a perfect little gift of her own knitting, always just the kind of loving needed, just at the right time.  She took a keen interest in people, old and young, and had a way of making people feel loved.

Norma & Chuck raised 5 kids, were active in the Church, had the biggest garden in town, took in foster children for many years, and still had time for family and friends.  Norma spent most of her life in the Englehart area, moving to Guelph in 2004 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.  Over the years, Norma collected many friends who would say she was like a sister, or like a second mother, or they would call her Auntie Norma, even though she was not actually their aunt!

Norma’s funeral service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Anglican Church, 210 Silvercreek Pkwy N., Guelph, Ontario on Wednesday, May 1st at 3:00 pm, followed by a reception at the church.  Norma’s final resting place will be at the family plot in Englehart with a graveside service (date to be determined).  At that time, both Norma and her son Shelden will be laid to rest with Chuck (Charles Matthew, Deceased 1998).
