It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Richard, age 77, on May 26, 2021 at the Guelph General Hospital.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Linda, his daughter Marianne (David) and son Scott (Tammy). Grandfather to Joshua (Cherry), Megan and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by extended family including sister-in-law Isabel Gardner (the late Keith), Florence Butcher (Robert), cousins, many nieces and nephews.
Richard was born on August 31, 1943 and grew up in Newmarket, later moving to Peterborough where he lived and worked for 23 years prior to moving to Guelph in 1990. He volunteered as a Cub leader and coached T-Ball. He enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards and sports, particularly hockey. One of the highlights of his retirement was the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and the UK.
The family would like to thank his doctors and nurses, especially those on the 5th floor east, step down for their care and kindness. A celebration of life will be held later. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051.
