Youn Mabel MM

Of Guelph, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Richmond Youn (1981). Loving mother of Carolyn (Glen) Barckert of Guelph and cherished grandmother to Ramona (Rob) Hofstetter and great-grandmother to Owen and Kyla. Mabel was predeceased by her parents William and Laura McCrea, beloved sisters and brothers-in-law Doris (Burnett) Wilkinson, Isla McCrea and Verna (Jack) Boyd and grandson Ryan. Her memory will be cherished by her many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, friends and caregivers. And not to be forgotten, her cherished orange cat, Susie, who accompanied Mabel when she moved to the Morriston Park Nursing Home in Puslinch, Ontario and where she will remain in the loving care of the staff and residents who have grown fond of her. Born in Liberty, Saskatchewan on March 15, 1922, Mabel grew up in Mount Forest, Ontario and married Richmond in 1943. After Carolyn’s birth in Listowel, Ontario, the family lived in Washington DC and Miami, Florida before settling in Guelph. Mabel worked as a secretary for the National Farmer’s Union and later, a freelance typist. She was an involved member of the UCW at Trinity United Church, Guelph. Mabel was loved for her independent spirit, gentle nature and quiet but sharp sense of humour. She will be dearly missed by all. A burial at Woodlawn Cemetery will be scheduled in the near future.
