ZULAK, Zuzana 'Zuzka'

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Zuzana Zulak, in her 81st year, on Friday October 28th, 2022, with family by her side, at St. Joseph's Healthcare Centre, Guelph, Ontario.

Zuzana, a loving and devoted wife, sister, Auntie, mother, grandmother and friend, was lovingly referred to by names over the years. Babicka, Gramma, Zuzka, Suzie or Zsa-Zsa or Mom, even if she really wasn’t your mom.

She is predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Paul Zulak, her parents Anna and Julius Martini of Bratislava, Slovakia and her beloved grandson Joshua Klusacek of Guelph, Ontario. Zuzana is survived by her sons Paul and Alan Klusacek. Cherished mother in law to Christa Massey and adoring grandmother of Nicholas, Dustin and Ryan. Dear sister of Sonia Svarinska (Jan), deeply loved by her niece Alena Laciakova (Peter), nephew Igor Pokorny (Mirka) and great-great niece Sofia, all of Slovakia; her great niece Mirka Okrajkova and great-great niece Karolina of Czech Republic and beloved great Auntie to Radka Okrajkova (Carlos) of Australia.

Zuzana will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by the many friends she has made over the years and her brothers and sisters of Kingdom Hall, Cambridge who have been her extended family since her arrival in Canada in 1969. She was extremely grateful for the friendships and ongoing efforts of support, love and care she received, especially during the last few years, since the loss of her husband Paul. A special thank you to the congregation for their continued encouragement and support to her daughter-in- law Christa over the last few days. Our deepest gratitude to Zuzka’s beautiful, selfless neighbors for the unwavering love and care they have also shown her over the years. And a special thanks to her in home nurse Samantha Schwartz for the loving care and kindness she provided Zuzka over the last several months.

Our family, and Zuzka’s friends would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the outstanding staff of Cambridge Memorial Hospital and St. Josephs Heath Centre Guelph for their loving care of her and support shown to the family during her final days with us.

Zuzka will always be remembered for her kind, gentle, selfless heart and loving spirit. She was and will continue to be an admirable role model of tenacity and strength to all who knew and loved her. No matter the mountain, she climbed it with perseverance, humility and grace. She will be forever loved and missed.

A hybrid Memorial Service will be held for friends and family at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (30 Myers Road, Cambridge) on Saturday Nov. 5th at 2pm.
