17 cows died in cattle truck rollover, driver charged

25 cows escaped, and some are still at large

The 38-year-old male driver from Woolwich Township that was involved in a collision on June 27, 2019 where a cattle hauler carrying 98 head of cattle left the roadway and rolled over has been charged with careless driving. 

Seventeen cows died or had to be euthanized due to their injuries at the scene while another 25 escaped, some of which are still at large and the remainder were taken to a stockyard.

The male is set to appear in Guelph Provincial court in September to answer to his charge.
